Therapy intensives are an increasingly popular way to accelerate your therapeutic journey so you can feel better faster. There’s no rule that says weekly therapy for months or years is the best or only option. Sometimes weekly therapy is a great fit and sometimes an intensive can do more for you in 1-3 days than months, or years, of therapy.

How do Trauma Therapy Intensives help accelerate healing?

Depending on the issue, traditional 50 minute weekly sessions may not be enough to see the results you want.

Consider a typical 50 (or even 60) minute session:

  • 10 min to check in and catch up since the last session

  • 30-40 min to deep dive

  • 10 min to wrap up at the end of the session

Assuming weekly sessions, this combines to only 2-3 hours per month of deep processing time.

Therapy Intensives, on the other hand, allow you to spend more hours deeply processing issues and working through your concerns in one day. Intensives are equally effective online and in-person. Depending on where you live and your preferences, we can book your intensive fully online, in person, or a combination of both. Intensives are especially helpful to process and heal trauma. They include more than just talk therapy. The trauma therapy approaches I use offer long term healing and incorporate mind, body, and spirit connections. These modalities are a great fit for the intensive format. Your Therapy Intensive Includes:

Pre-Intensive Session

An online or in-person 90-minute session 1-2 weeks before your Intensive day(s) to prepare. We’ll collect information, go over assessments, determine your goals, and get you feeling prepared and ready for the Intensive.

Customized Intensive Session(s)

The Intensive takes place online or in-person for 2-4 hours each day (with extra time for breaks) over 1-3 days. We’ll include targeted activities and therapeutic approaches customized your needs and goals.

Post-Intensive Session

An online or in-person 90-minute session 2-3 weeks after the Intensive to debrief the experience, review progress, and reflect on insights and transformations. You’ll leave with a plan for next steps in your healing journey.

Intensives are like a fast-pass experience—you get to plan around your schedule and accelerate your healing.

How to Include Therapy Intensives

  • Intensives as an add-on service

    • Schedule an intensive with me even if you see another therapist. We can work together to customize an intensive that makes sense for your treatment and you can absolutely continue working with your primary therapist.

    • This option allows you to explore a different therapeutic approach or modality that your current therapist doesn’t offer.

    • If you’re a current client of mine, we can skip some of the pre-intensive steps and try an intensive at a lower rate.

  • Intensives as your go-to form of therapy

    • Whether you’re new to therapy or you’ve seen multiple therapists, you can choose intensives as your go-to therapy approach.

    • For some people, working in an intensive, focussed way is a better fit for how they learn and process. Therapy needs to change to meet diverse needs.

    • You can book intensives monthly, every 3-4 months, or on whatever schedule makes sense for your life, goals, and healing journey.
